Horse whisperers such as Monty Roberts train horses through the deep understanding of horse behavior. Part of their secret is to treat the horses in the same way the horses treat themselves. In order to accomplish this, they must have extensive knowledge of horse behavior.
Cowboying on the other hand requires little knowledge of how horses behave amongst themselves, and some knowledge about how horses behave when you force them do what they don’t want to do. Cowboying is spectacular to watch, which has resulted in it becoming a sport. Watching a horse whisperer work is amazing but unspectacular as they make it look effortless. Many people find it fascinating just to listen to a horse whisperer speak due to the tremendous amount of knowledge they possess.

I have no idea where you got the information about cowboying, but if you take the time to talk to cowboys, most of them know a LOT about horses, behavioural issues and just horsemanship…Yet, I admit, there is still a lot more to be done to make those who work with horses more aware and open to their four legged partners.

I really don’t know much about cowboys. Sorry if I’m offending cowboys here. I’m just trying to define the idea that it’s a good idea to understand thing from within instead of without. If that makes any sense. Anyway I hope you can enjoy some of our music.
